Team Fort Aspenwood
I was wondering what people would think about having a separate area where groups could go into Fort Aspenwood in full teams (similar to how random vs. team arenas used to be).
note this idea would be in addition to (not instead of) the current random team setup at Aspenwood
I'm sure there are a number of issues with making this work. If you can think of any problems with this idea (and ideally potential solutions to these issues) please post. This seems like it could be a lot of fun if the particulars could be worked out.

Nah, I'm good.
I like random teams. It makes it more fun as long as you don't get too many bots.

Then the Kurzicks would be even more disadvantaged. Right now, FA is balanced enough so that the huge Luxon advantage is countered by the idiots that form it. There would have to be major changes if FA became organized.

No, this would not be good. Kurzicks could put together a team making it near impossible to kill anything. (aegis chain comes to mind)
I don't even think it would be more fun than the random arrangement. I kind of like not knowing what kind of team you're going to have or what you're going to be up against.

/notsigned, you'd have to team up if you'd want to win, otherwise you'd get that elementalist wielding a hammer on your team.

I like the self-reliant aspect of the randomness, personally.
You commit yourself to a task (amber running/gate protection/interception vs snaring-and-tear/gatebreaker/general destroyer) and run with it. And everyone on the enemy side and the friendly is doing the same.
Does that mean you can get an imbalanced team? Sure. But it also means you don't have a meta for Aspenwood revolving around an eight man perfect defense crew or a coordinated gatecracker squadron running a precise, formulaic tactic.

i seem to the only one to like this idea
and having a separate area would be good, for the people who like random teams, and those who dont.

Grouping in Fort Aspenwood is better off being random. Its an alternative to RA and for people people who just want to do some low-end PvP. Imo both sides are balanced enough Turtle AI could use a fix but then again so could Juggy's.

Everything this guy said. Team FA would be a totally different game from random FA.

That was kind of the point. Listen, I'm not suggesting a change of the existing random setup of FA. I really like it too. I just thought this would be an interesting addition to (not a replacement for) the current setup.
Thoughts?

That wouldn't work. The map already highly favors the Kurzicks. Organised teams would make it near impossible for the Luxons to win.
As has been suggested in various threads for various arenas before, teams of 2 could be fun withouth borking the arena too much. It's hard to find more than 2 active players anyway.

Actually, there might be a way this would work.
If there was a third competitive mission, perhaps something similar to Payload from tf2, with Luxons defending a caravan that has to move a certain distance, and the team method was a rotating basis.
In other words, between FA, JQ, and hypothetical third, the Team Competitive cycles constantly between the three. Most importantly, you don't know which of the three you will be playing in next. This might prevent extremely focused teambuilding, because you might need to defend aspenwood, attack the caravan, or mix the two in the quarry.
As long as it didn't interfere with the normal, random version of each mission, it might be alright.

The Kurzicks would make 8 monk teams and that's pretty much it.
They wouldn't run amber, four of them would just hold the outer gates. 'Nuff said.
